WE LIKE MTV EXIT!

You know, we all have dreams of a better life sometimes. How would it be to make good money abroad –sigh- study abroad –sigh-. Can you imagine, there are people in this world taking advantage of girls and boys with hopes and dreams like this, by selling them as human slaves? DAMN. We we’re in shock! We’ve been involved in the MTV EXIT Live in Indonesia campaign. A nationwide concert tour, with Indonesia’s biggest popstars and rockbands. S.I.D., Agnes Monica, Peter Pan, The Changcuters, J-Rock and many more artists. They’ve joined MTV EXIT in the fight against human trafficking. All the concerts are free (funded by USAID and AUSAID) so MTV can reach out to as many people as possible. Working in this project, closely with NGO’s and Indonesian government as well, we learned that in Indonesia only there are around 2.5 million victims each year. Kids sold to beg on the streets (yes, also in Bali), young girls lured under false promises into brothels to work as a sexslave, young men trying to make money for their family and end up locked up in a factory working night and day. All being heavily abused. SNIFF. We not like.

MTV EXIT is not trying to stop human trafficking. But is putting a spotlight on the issue thru the power of music and celebs. A positive campaign! MTV EXIT has been touring in Asia with concerts in the past years, working together with Placebo, The Killers, Radiohead. Making videoclips, documentaries with Angelina Jolie, Lucia Liu, animations and so much more (all on www.mtvexit.org or www.facebook.com/mtvexit). And a new videoclip will be shot this month with a biiiig big artist… ssssh we can’t tell, sorry!

We-like went on tour with MTV EXIT to Pontianak, Makassar, Surabaya, Medan and made some insiders snaps. The shows are produced with Global TV, the Indonesian MTV partner. The last stop will be in Jakarta, this Sunday June 6. Already over a 100.000 youngsters came to see the concerts. MTV EXIT does, makes sure people have the night of their lives with a rocking MTV style concert and delivering the message about human trafficking as well. The first step is to get informed. Cause we’re all part of the human trafficking chain. It’s the choices we make, the products we buy, the money we spend. And the more people in Asia and Indonesia know about this issue, the more young boys and girls might be prevented on being captured, cause they know how to protect themselves.

Sorry we’re going on and on about this. But it hits us straight in the heart. While we are free, other girls are struggling for their lives. That’s why we’re happy to do something about it and joined MTV EXIT! Join the fight with us on www.facebook.com/mtvexit.

Or all you in Jakarta and around. Come to Lapangan D Senayan, Sunday June 6 – show starts 4pm and will be live on Global TV 8 till 10 pm. It’s a free concert but you need a ticket. So just give us a woopwoop! If you wanna come and we’ll make sure there’s a spot. Big love for the MTV EXIT team!
